3 days desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga

Desert Tours Morocco Departure from Marrakech in the morning (Riad or Airport) in the direction of the Gorges of Dades, we will cross the High Atlas mountains where we will enjoy the extraordinary landscapes that these mountains offer us, the colors change from oranges to greens, the verges of the roads occupied by vendors and a landscape worth seeing, we will cross the Tizi’n Tichka mountain pass, the highest point of this route with 2,280 meters high.

Our journey through the mountains will continue towards Ouarzazate; along the way we can see kasbahs, sets of authentic adobe houses, we will arrive at Aït Benhaddou (Declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco), this fortified kasbah was inhabited by the tribe of Ben Haddou hata that began to deteriorate, it was when Unesco helped to rehabilitate much of it. Aït Benhaddou is a majestic sand-colored fortification, its interior looks like the setting of a movie and it is impressive to wander through it. Its citadel is tiny and consists of cobbled and narrow streets that go up to reach the top of the fortification, where there are splendid views with the tonalities of the mountains are red and dry. We will continue our route to Ouarzazate, is the point intermediate that joins the mountains and the desert, also called the Hollywood of Morocco, since by its situation it is the perfect environment to record films for its environment of arid lands. One of the charms is its medina, the old part of the city with its many streets full of life and the central square turned into a fantastic place to enjoy the daily life of its people. Also a strong point is the kashba of Taourirt, a fortified palace where getting lost in its rooms connected by labyrinthine corridors and stairs is a joy. From the top of its towers we have a panoramic and impressive view of the medina. We will continue our route through the Valley of Roses, located at the foot of the High Atlas, as its name indicates is the most important and interesting cultivation area from the point of sight of the tourism, 30 uninterrupted km of cultivation of roses, a splendid verdure nailed to the feet of a canyon of ocher tints that offers a spectacle of beauty and that forms part of the most important places of Morocco.

We will arrive at the Gorges of Dades where we will spend the night.

Day 2: Gorges of Dades – Gorges of Todra – Merzouga Desert (Erg Chebbi):

Desert Tours Morocco Today after a good traditional Moroccan breakfast we will go to the desert of Merzouga, we will pass by the Palm Grove of Todra where we will make a stop to visit it, a large palm grove with its kasbahs and their typical villages of abode, where the river runs through all the oasis of Todra and on its shores grow palm trees full of dates, olive trees and various crops. Our route continues towards the impressive gorge of the Todra Gorges, a mandatory stop to contemplate the great canyon, formed by red limestone rock with vertical walls and where its last 600 meters of gorge are the most spectacular, the canyon narrows and passes to have a width of about 10 meters and 160 meters high, a whole stone paradise where it houses a river of crystal clear waters and its picturesque atmosphere makes it a mandatory stop.

We will continue to Erfoud, where the main fossil deposits are located, its important souk and market next to the central square is the nerve center of the population, finally we will arrive at Merzouga where the camels will be waiting for us to enter the heart of the desert to make night and enjoy the mantle of stars and the silence that surrounds us.

Day 3: Desert of Merzouga – Draa Valley – High Atlas – Marrakech

In the morning we will get up very early to be able to admire the sunrise, with the light of dawn the sand of the desert takes a spectacular reddish color and as the sun rises, the color is more yellowish.

Back with our camels to take a shower, have breakfast and continue our route.

On the way we will go to the palm grove of Tafilalet, the largest palm grove in the world, with about 800,000 date palms, we will continue to Rissani very famous for its market, this city shows with dignity and takes pride in being the last commercial stop before the desert, the atmosphere you breathe while walking through the souks of Rissani is not found anywhere else in Morocco, a penumbra due to the roofs that filter the sun’s rays, an explosion of colors and smells that stand out to the combination of the well-known spices . Our trip will continue towards Alnif where we will find tremendous desert landscapes of black and brown stone, and where in the small rivers or streams form tremendous oases full of gardens and life, we will continue our route to the Oasis of Tazarine Nkob until we reach the Draa Valley , one of the most exotic destinations in the South of Morocco and the largest in the country, where culture, architecture and way of life are totally different from the European one, is a great source of surprises, the kasbahs, the mud castles and the ksur are the most attractive as they emerge from the same arid land, these buildings that occur along the valley brighten the landscape with its beautiful buildings.

We will continue towards Agdz, a pretty big town that supposes the beginning of the valley, very attractive photographically for all the tourists, we will go mos Ait Saoun to 1660 meters of altitude where we will be able to contemplate the natural rock formations that with time have been created, to the last we will arrive in Marrakech, transfer to the hotel / riad and end of our services
